When you see bitterness brought about by one’s own inability to compromise, it is a bitterness we are all susceptible to. We hurt ourselves and then it manifests in hurting others.

Lance Lambert once said to me that you can have all the wisdom, all the theology, all the morals, all the precision maneuvers of knowledge, all the freedom of riches,.. but what meaning do they have if you do not have love?

Life is not about being right, nor being righteous. They are dead if all they can do is make someone feel mistreated, aroused in anger, or repressed away in shame. One of the most surprising things about life is that being young has the disadvantage of repeating mistakes made by our antecedents without knowing it. It is not anyone’s fault when someone at 17, 23, or 30 blame others if their lack of room or opportunity to grow. It is not anyone’s fault when a person has restricted the heart to his or her own “a prior” wisdom, when he or she takes pride in their own understanding. It is not your fault when your child can’t or refuse to contain your advice and guidance.

I am no better myself, always preferring to seek confidence and comfort in those my age, my mind frame, or my taste. And that’s when I can ask… how do you progress or realize your immaturity if your counterpart’s maturity level and length of time lived are the same as yours?

Perhaps, for now, there is more merit in living with those far older than you, and even more, when you choose to listen and heed words of the old. Bitterness is gone when my heart can choose to forgive and love others who disagree with you.

The premise? Even Christians fail to understand they are no better, no cleaner, no more sinful than those who do not believe.

You have to believe the Yankees can play it out so well. They drag a game on by letting the Rays climb back out of a 7-run hole, take to extra innings…. all while, the Red Sox were clawing and scratching and hustling through dirt and time—and through a nail-biting rain delay, only to see no leeway given by the their arch-enemy. But of course, how can these silly Boston fans depend on New York?It’s their pleasure to give you problems, fellas!

This has got to be the announcing line of the night: “Only 3 minutes. 3 minutes after the Orioles walked off on the Red Sox, Evan Longoria hits one out to left field, ending the Sox’s season completely!”

You can hand it to the Rays for triumphing the three-day heart-wrenching battle, but then again, we know the Yankees like to play dirty; play the teaser; play the decision-maker. Seriously, letting the Rays come back from 7-0 lead and getting swept? Yankees made their point. They want the Red Sox gone more than anything, and were willing to go the ulterior distance with their poker face!

Don’t you see, baseball?? The Yankees were the deciders, the boss of the 2011 willlld WILD card!

Helen Benedict’s editorial of Women in the Military is undeniably shocking, and there is no question that it angers both men and women, perhaps on unequal perspectives. Please read if you have the chance.

Get the fuck out of the military already. Next thing you know they’ll be complaining that they aren’t getting the right type of moisturizer on the front line! Having chicks serve is an awful idea for the following reasons: Women are weaker, slower, dumber than men. Emotionally, women are train wrecks for a week out of every month-MEDIC WE’VE GOT A BLEEDER! Add this weak ass sexual harrasment crap and one can only conclude that women are a HUGE LIABILITY!

Frank must be living a sexually frustrating life to have the balls to speak maliciously on who he describes as “weaker, slower, and even dumber”. For the record, it could be him compensating for inadequate manhood. It’s moment like these that women need to start protecting themselves and not depend on men for protection, because the truth is (and I am not generalizing this on all men) when women are protective, they are  called “bitches”, when women share their lives with someone else, they’re called “hoes” or “clingy”. It’ll always be a lose-lose situation for ladies. And that is why Frankie calls women “dumber” when men like him cannot discern deeper than “bitch” and “ho”. Whether men do have any genuine respect or love for women is becoming increasingly controversial, because of comments like this.

What a shame that although women have the greatest will to be educated and empowered, from the old days til now, they are still refused education, healthy rights by the physical dominance of impertinent men; and their voices suppressed and blurred by men’s skewing of biblical text–a text breathed by the Spirit of That Who deeply loved all— against women.

Frank, you call women “dumber” but this is because of your own lack of discernment (and balls). It was men who refused rights as education, talent and self-expression to women, so obviously yes, women were “dumber” from the ancient times until a century ago. Today,women are brighter, stronger, and choose to fight because they can. Women serve in the military because they want to be independent and support their families, and perhaps protect incapable men like you. Physically weaker? You are right. But if it is the passion, the mental endurance that keeps them on the battlefield, then they are the ones that have the courage to do what you can’t do.

I think it has been years since this commonly-memorized verse was still fresh in my mind. But once again, sleeping in a Sunday routine that should never have gone perfunctory, I was smitten with a sense of guilt and decided to spend the morning compensating my church absence with a little Bible-reading. Do it, or nothing. So I turned to chapter 3 of Proverbs as today’s date summoned. And there I went…. rediscovering a popular, routinely-taught verse.

As a child, more likely than not, you would be told time and time again to “Trust in the Lord.. obey the Lord.. trust in the Lord.. pray to the Lord.. trust in the Lord..” While that is important,  as I’ve reread this verse, I realized I have never truly dug deeper on the second part of it ( in bold). Perhaps during childhood, that segment does not truly magnify…. until now. Perhaps God had willed my generation to graduate into a depleted economy, just so this restless time could lay the foundation to us taking action on our own education. And His will has paid off. Now a year later, I realized I had never knew my world in college and in the rest of my school career—they were merely a bubble of freedom with paintings acting as glimpse of a reality I never considered in existence. Now, I can justify why I and everyone today owe so much to  history: the old stories, time lines for how we all ended up here, the patterns in the evolution of human thought and politics. We must never stop with one source or two, blindly believing that we’ve known enough.

How could one ever live without knowing how much turmoil this Earth has lived through?  For even though I live in a spot of peace, the world sees not a day of it. You must be distressed at heart to ponder that many pass on without knowing what part of history is their own.

Today I respect many figures who fight to keep a nation together; those who do not rest in searching for the truth of their world; those who embrace discipline and become a model of sacrifice to unify humankind. A feat as such is unimaginable, for even strength in numbers is quickly weakened by difference of frame of mind. Elitists are all of them imperfect as well. Although knowledge is power, “leaning on your own understanding” or taking pride in “your own wisdom” begets downfall, and therefore, you would have forgotten compassion.

Politics is a heart aching complexity. No matter what government there is to adopt, there will always be the rebellious group. And I think the greatest thing that has been neglected today is Education. That is what every individual, living and breathing, should have. Get to know your neighbors, your enemies, your leaders, your kids, your world. And “lean not on your own understanding….Do not be wise in your own eyes..”

Even heroes and strong men need saving; a proof that the Bible has never regarded females as inferior. Respect and love the lady!

Perhaps the only irony of it all is that your parents can’t seem to share the same joy. When you have reached mid-point in your life, that is when inevitable torn feelings or the sense of emotional loyalty trial start to take a toll on your reasoning, spiritual or personal, on life…once again. With joy, there is also grief in great proximity when you must bury those who have lived your life.

I’m sure Christians like I have discovered many reasons to be angry with God, especially when we see just how ironic life is and are stricken with confusion. You start to question why it is necessary to harbor both joy and grief simultaneously for people you love. And is it fair?

I was at a wedding when my mom was at my grandpa’s funeral. I look back now still torn at whether I should have rescinded my months-old wedding rsvp for my grandpa who passed only a week before and whose funeral was scheduled the exact same day as the wedding. One way or another, it would have been a loss on both sides, which I had blessings from. I could be still accused or vindicated of having incompatible, untimely emotions. Regardless, several years into the future will come a period when we must celebrate life and bury life. There’s no reason to be angry when you are aware of it. God can be funny, because that is all I could see when I’m too small.
